Of course, every selection is subjective. We stand by that, of course! Here are our TOP 5 LEVEL 3 and LEVEL 4!

1. AMON VIA FERRATA ON THE DACHSTEIN - the insider tip for ALPSinists and insiders!
The Amon Via Ferrata is a challenging alpine via ferrata tour in the Dachstein Mountains, leading to the 2,837-meter-high Hohe Kreuz. It runs above the Great Gosau Glacier and offers spectacular views of the glacial world of the Dachstein Massif.
The trail begins with a steep, often shady wall passage (C/D), followed by easier sections (B/C to A/B). From the Simonyscharte, the route is an impressive ridge ferrata with airy passages and a striking pillar (C). The final section leads over an exposed ridge to the summit of the Hohe Kreuz. The descent proceeds via the Niederes Kreuz, the Hohe Ochsenkogel, and the Hoher Trog to the Adamek or Simony Hut.

2. DACHSTEIN SUPERFERRATA – what a journey!
The Dachstein Super Ferrata is one of the longest and most challenging via ferrata routes in the Alps. It combines three via ferratas – the Anna Via Ferrata , the Johann Via Ferrata , and the Schultersteig – into a single, continuous route on the 2,995-meter-high Hoher Dachstein. With a climbing length of approximately 1,200 meters and passages up to difficulty level E, it is only suitable for very experienced and fit alpinists.
Anna Via Ferrata : Starts at approximately 1,800 m, 300 m elevation gain, difficulty C/D. Leads to the Mitterstein (2,097 m). Strenuous sections
Johann Via Ferrata : Access at approximately 2,180 m, 560 m elevation gain, difficulty level D/E. A very challenging trail with an overhanging access and long, vertical sections. Ends at the Seethaler Hut (2,741 m).
Schultersteig : From the Seethaler Hut across the glacier to the starting point, 280 m elevation gain, grade A/B. An easier section, but not to be underestimated after the previous climbs. Leads to the summit of the Hoher Dachstein (2,995 m).

3. THE PRIEL VIA FERRATA – the longest via ferrata in the Eastern Alps!
The Priel via ferrata on the Grosser Priel (2,515 m) in the Totes Gebirge is Austria's longest via ferrata, with a climbing length of 2,130 m and 900 m of elevation gain. It connects the former Bert Rinesch via ferrata with the southeast spur and was extensively renovated and expanded in 2019. The route offers a challenging alpine via ferrata with numerous technical passages and spectacular views.
The via ferrata begins below the Prielschutzhaus (Priel Protection House) and leads over the southeast spur to the Grosser Priel (Great Priel). The lower section is technically challenging, with overhanging passages, two rope bridges, cave crossings, and exposed traverses. From the so-called "Locomotive," the former Bert Rinesch via ferrata begins, with steep ladders and long traverses. In the upper section, the route runs along the south ridge to the summit.

4. KÖNIGSJODLER - the long ridge to the summit...
The Königsjodler via ferrata is one of the most challenging and impressive via ferratas in the Eastern Alps. It leads over a spectacular ridge with numerous rock towers and gorges to the Hochkönig (2,941 m).
The Königsjodler via ferrata runs over the Teufelshörner, the Kematstein (also Kummetstein), and ends at the Hoher Kopf. The route mostly runs directly along the wild ridge edge and is extremely spectacular, crossing small and large gorges (Jungfrauensprung and Teufelsschlucht) and eight, sometimes very sharp, towers. Since you usually descend very steeply from the tower summits and then have to climb the next tower again, the 1,700 meters of climbing are a real test of endurance. The scenic route is also very impressive. On clear days, the panorama is unbeatable.
5. DONNERKOGEL - the long ladder to heaven...
The Intersport Donnerkogel Via Ferrata is a spectacular via ferrata tour in the Dachstein Mountains that leads to the 2,054-meter-high Grosser Donnerkogel. The trail is particularly famous for its 40-meter-long, free-floating "Stairway to Heaven ," which leads over a deep gorge.
The Donnerkogel via ferrata offers an unforgettable climbing experience with breathtaking views of the Dachstein massif and the Gosau Valley. The Himmelsleiter (Stairway to Heaven) is a special highlight for climbers with a head for heights.
