The ascent is also relatively easy.
PROLOG
After roughly 60 days with the Fischer Transalp 98 – on day trips during traverses and on groomed slopes – we've developed a good feel for the characteristics of this ski. Accordingly, what follows is a somewhat different, but particularly thorough, report based on practical experience.
ALPS field tests are not technical tests for engineers, but clear practical tests in the field. We conduct GUIDE TESTS, GUEST TESTS , and RENTAL TESTS.

Different widths, same construction. Jochen Becker can also handle the wide skis on the slopes...

WHAT THE GUIDE SAYS - Jochen Becker IVBV
The Fischer Transalp 98 presents itself to me as a true all-rounder.
Whether long ascents, steep descents or changing conditions – this ski impresses with its balance and reliability.
Its light weight ensures efficient ascents even with a large backpack, while it scores points with its smooth running and stability on the descent.
Even at high speeds, the Transalp 98 remains precisely controllable and always conveys a safe driving feeling. Its control is particularly impressive, even when snow conditions become difficult or uneven.
In short: My choice for all types of ski touring. The Transalp 98 is fun, inspires confidence even at speed, and proves that a touring ski can be both high-performing and forgiving.

My recommendation for guests with moderate skiing skills and a heavy backpack!

Also a good option when carrying - very lightweight for skiing performance.
WHAT THE GUEST SAYS - Hannes Rammersdorfer
I bought the Fischer Transalp 98 on the recommendation of Hati Finsterer . It was important for me to find a forgiving and lightweight touring ski that I could optimally use for my main goal of the season, the Hochtirol tour .
Especially on long descents after strenuous climbs, I need a ski that I can ride safely and with control even with less effort . The Transalp 98 completely won me over here: It remains stable, turns easily, and provides a pleasant, secure feel even in moderate snow conditions.
This ski makes skiing downhill a real joy – even when conditions aren't perfect. A fantastic, versatile touring ski that delivers impressive performance on both the ascent and the descent.
The only downside: it's unfortunately not exactly cheap.
